VMware / on-premise migration to Azure

VMware licence increase: decide whether to migrate with numbers, not in a hurry.

If your VMware licence has gone up and you do not know whether to migrate, start with an assessment. A licence increase should not push you to decide in a hurry: with read-only access to your environment we give you the numbers and the risks, and your team decides whether to stay or migrate to Azure.

Built for SMEs and midmarket companies with on-premise VMware and a small IT team. Lead time: 5-7 business days for small estates; larger estates, an agreed lead time.

01 · Method

How we assess your estate

  1. Inventory. We list the virtual machines, storage, network and dependencies, declared and observed in the analysis window, of your VMware or on-premise estate.
  2. Cost of staying versus moving. We compare the total cost of ownership (TCO) of staying on the new licence against moving to Azure. The TCO is calculated with the licence and hardware figures you provide.
  3. Risks. We point out which workloads are easy to move, which have delicate dependencies and what could go wrong.
  4. Phased plan. We group workloads into phases and give you a high-level phased plan, with criteria to sign off each step.

02 · Scope

What is included and what is not

Included

  • Inventory of the estate.
  • Cost comparison of staying versus migrating to Azure.
  • Map of risks and dependencies.
  • High-level phased plan.

Not included

  • Licences or cloud consumption: you contract those yourself.
  • Application refactoring.
  • Carrying out the migration.
  • Landing zone design.
  • Compatibility testing.
  • Third-party software licences.
  • Comparison with other hypervisors or clouds.

We do not modify your systems. If we use an inventory collector, you deploy it or approve it first.
